FAQ
Acupuncture is a therapeutic method that involves the precise insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body. These acupuncture points, are areas where the body's energy, or Qi, can be accessed and regulated. Numerous scientific studies have shown that acupuncture can modulate pain perception, reduce inflammation, and stimulate the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals in the body, as well as many more thing. Additionally, acupuncture has been shown to promote the release of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine, which can help to regulate mood and alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. By regulating the flow of energy and promoting the body's natural healing response, acupuncture can help alleviate a wide range of physical and emotional symptoms. At Under Pressure, we are dedicated to providing our community with access to this time-tested and scientifically-proven healing practice like these, but less invassive. See more in the accupressure section. (We do not offer at home acupuncture)
Acupressure is a time-honored healing practice that harnesses the power of touch to activate the body's natural healing abilities. Acupressure is rooted in the wisdom of ancient traditions, and its goal is to promote balance and well-being. It's a gentle and non-invasive therapy that can be easily incorporated into your daily wellness routine. Whether you're seeking to get a better nights sleep, descrease stress or enhance your overall health, acupressure is a natural choice empowers you to feel your best.
Acupressure is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and involves applying pressure to specific points on the body to stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms. These pressure points are located along energy pathways or meridians, and by applying pressure to these points, it is thought to help release tension and promote the flow of qi or energy. Acupressure is a non-invasive and holistic approach to healing that has been used for centuries to alleviate pain, reduce stress, and promote overall wellbeing.

At Under Pressure, we like to think of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as the original functional medicine, because it is treating the root cause of the issue not the symptom. TCM is a holistic and ancient healing system that originated in China over 2,200 years ago. It is based on the principles of yin and yang, the Five Elements, and the flow of qi or energy throughout the body. TCM encompasses a range of therapies including acupressure, acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, and tai chi. TCM is widely used in both China and the West for the treatment of various health conditions and is often used in conjunction with Western medicine for a more comprehensive approach to healthcare.
Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles into specific acupressure points, while acupressure involves applying pressure with fingers, hands, or Under Pressure Acupressure Beeds to the same points. Both therapies are based on the same TCM principles of balancing the body's energy flow, but acupuncture is considered more invasive and requires a licensed practitioner to perform, while acupressure can be done using Under Pressure's protocols and beads at home and on your timeline.
In short generally no, but... Acupressure beads, also known as acupressure balls or massage balls, may cause some discomfort or pain when used on certain acupressure points. The level of discomfort may vary depending on the individual's sensitivity and the pressure applied. However, acupressure is not meant to be a painful experience, and any pain or discomfort should be within the person's tolerance level. If the pain becomes unbearable, it is important to stop using the acupressure beads immediately. It is also important to use the acupressure beads properly, by applying gentle pressure and slowly increasing the intensity over time, to avoid injury or unnecessary discomfort.
Acupressure is generally very safe without very many extreme side effects. Some negative effects, include bruising, soreness, and pain at the acupressure point.
Accupressure is generally very safe, but if you are pregnant or breastfeeding please consult a qualified healthcare provider prior to applying our seeds.
